The 'Featured Block' link under 'Theme Options' in the 'Appearance' section of the 'Admin panel' works on my version 1.2.2 installation of Blogs MU. However, the 'Homepage', 'Services', 'Section', 'BuddyPress', 'Design', and 'Extra' links don't work. I stay on the 'Featured Block' page when I click these other links. How can I fix this.

Hi there and welcome to BuddyDress wtwine. Ideally we'd prefer you to start a new thread for a new issue but lets see what we can do to assist you here.

You can change the name in navigation however the actual functionality you are looking for is not built into BuddyPress. That is not saying you may not be able to do it though. There are going to be 3 routes open to you:

1. Does there exist a plugin to do this: check out the extend section at buddypress.org
2. Can you find a snippet or information on who to do this as it's not theme related over at buddypress.org or another buddypress resource - unless you know coding and have time this may not be a good option
3. Is it worthwhile looking at a job board to get this done - we can recommend the job board at http://premium.wpmudev.org/ but there are many others out there which may get things done for you.

I am a member of your site and pay a monthly membership
fee and have downloaded the default Buddy press plugin to my wp site.
I am planning on using the MU Blog Theme and
I would like to know if I can change the group pages to read pro pages
much like Face Book does with fan pages. My site is http://www.useapro.net
and I'm building a social network of service professionals for home
and life. If not, can you add another page like fan pages in face
book? This way the professionals can have their pages public if they
want to.

Hello,

I have just installed the theme Blogs Mu on my web site http://www.professioneinfermiere.net. The theme is very very cool, but I have an issue...

On the right side of the header there is the writing "Already a member? Login here". Users are supposed to insert there user name and password. But that link does not work. Do I have to set anything from the admin of wordpress mu to make it work properly?

Thanks,

@barney373: Assuming you've linked up the blog template it should auto populate. However we'd always recommend you call it blog or news NOT blogs as that's reserved word if using BuddyPress. You need to link up the template here is a template tutorial for pages: http://buddydress.com/2010/05/creating-and-setting-a-page-template-tutorial/

Afternoon all, just a quick simple question I think.

Blogs MU user @ http://www.yambana.com

How do I set up a blogs page on the site? I've set up a page for it specifically but don't know how to move all the blog content to it.

Many thanks. Barney

You uploaded the files there yes? What are your directories and are they as our install PDF says? I am fairly sure it's something like that.

Hiya,

No worries! We'll get there! I understand this is all brand new.

Were you able to watch the video that Tammie put together?
http://buddydress.com/2010/06/firebug-installing-discovering-and-using-the-tutorial/

Once you've clicked "firebug" in the view menu, do you see a new panel open up at the bottom of your browser? At the top-left of this panel there's a little picture that looks like a bug. Directly beside it is an icon of an arrow. Click that arrow and then move your mouse over the part of the theme you want to change (like a text block that happens to be white). :D

When you click on this part of the text the firebug panel below should automatically find it and highlight the code. You're going to want to look at the portion on the right-hand side of the panel. It is labeled "Style" at the top. This panel shows you the actual code (like the parts I've given you to input above).

Look for a term that says "color: #FFFFFF". This is the hex value that tells the text to be a specific color. You can change this to whatever you like by looking for a hex chart through google. When you make a change here, the browser gives you a live preview of what it will look like. When you find something you like you'll need to copy the code into your style.css just like I had you do above.

It may sound like a lot, but once you get familiar with this process you'll be customizing your code like a pro!

Hiya,

To add the black nav bar back, simply delete the following from what I gave you earlier:

#top-bg {
	background: none;
}

There is no color behind the featured video/picture, so maybe you're seeing the border? You can get rid of that by adding the following lines to your style.css that we edited earlier:

#intro-featured-img {
	border: none;
}

Changing the text color so that it shows up on the new white background is done in the same way as the previous changes. You need to grab firebug and start using it! You can easily find out exactly what you need through this tool. Then you'll be much better able to pick the exact colos for text and backgrounds that you want!

Here's a hint: To change the fonts you're going to want to look for a value called "color". The color is written as a hex value. Google is your friend here.
here's a sample of what it might look like:
#right-panel p.headtext {
color: #FF0000;
}

Good luck! :D

Hiya,

Alright, to remove all background options from the header you'll want to add the following to the very bottom of your child's style.css:

#header {
	background-image: none;
}
#header-gfx-inner {
	background-image: none;
}
#top-bg {
	background: none;
}

By removing the backgrounds you are left with the default white.

As for the featured header image/video dimmensions we can change this via CSS as well. In the same file as above add the following line:

#intro-featured-img {
	height: 361px;
	width: 400px;
}

Good luck!  :D

Hiya, Filling in for Tammie at the moment.

Firegbug is really the best option to make these kinds of changes. It is intimidating at first, but you'll grow more comfortable with it!

I can hep you make the changes Tammie mentioned. Which theme are you using?

@deejayefem: You just change those and put in your child theme. You can find them using firebug.
