It’s not just developers that can contribute to BuddyPress… designers get involved
Over at BuddyPress there have been 2 posts and a new group all aimed at theme designers. It’s now a great time to not only get involved as a developer but for those with a more design tendency to step up.
Contribute to core
There are 2 particular posts that Paul Gibbs has started looking to get contributions at this point.
Menus: Contribute to core
Comment styling: Contribute to core 2
The menus is great news and sees the introduction of WordPress 3.0 menus in the BuddyPress default theme. A truly great thing we think.
Comments is looking at ways to style and get indenting. There is also more talk to come regarding that it looks like during this week’s BuddyPress developer chat as can be seen here. There is a discussion about whether a more ‘like activity stream’ approach to comments is right to take.
BP Default Group
As a result of the posts and increased interest Modemlooper stepped up and created the ‘BP Default’ Group.
Whilst opinions vary as always when the subject of design enters it’s a great thing to see a way for theme designers to contribute along with developers.
There have always been ways for not just developers to get involved in BuddyPress but it’s nice for a direct call out like this to be being made. There have also been hints at a new theme to be considered for 1.4 / 1.5 so now couldn’t be a better time to get involved with that on the horizon.
